Thing 16: Wikis

I like wikis but not for every subject--like if someone were to start a wiki with Q&A on medical issues. Wikis sound great for libraries, by having intranets and by having a separate wiki for public input (gathering community info and recommendations, etc.). Wikis for subject guides would come in handy, especially so the patron could access the library from home. Our MD 23 Things is a wiki(?) in that it includes a place for our input and tips for each other through the "Things." I liked the Oregon "Library Instruction Wiki" with its section "Library 2.0 in 15 Minutes a Day." That is a one-stop shopping site for tutorials on technology. Yeah! It's like Maryland's Merlin site but I like Oregon's better for now. The wiki site with "Library Success: A Best Practices Wiki," I like a lot too because it's one where I can brush up on my weak area(s).
