Thing 1: About the Program

My first reaction to finding out we would be learning about blogs was, "Yes! Now I can find out how to do what teens, 20-somethings, and celebrities are doing on computers, MP3s, ..." My first thought about blogs once I saw some was, "No wonder why teens like it so much. It's sort of like having your own website that you can customize with photos and videos, and have a pen pals sort of thing going on." The Blogger site says "a blog is an easy-to-use website" that's free. It's a quicker, easier way to have a website than to learn Web language (html? or C++?) to create one.
About the other technologies we'll be learning about, I don't know about most of them yet so learning them is a good thing! I have heard of YouTube, wikis, podcasts, and the term "mashup". I have used RSS feeds some and have searched on Project Gutenburg, but that's it. I'm glad I have this opportunity to learn about and try these emerging technologies. It's important to be in-the-know these days especially because technology is changing so rapidly. For me, it's hard to easily adapt to changes, so this learning project is very helpful.
